Nose surgery - rhino plastic
|
|||
|
This surgery influences 3 areas of a human - psychic, aesthetic and
functional. Nose is a centre of a face and creates its characteristics;
therefore the aesthetic function is so closely connected with the psychical
one. In addition to that, nose has irreplaceable function as an olfactory
organ and a respiratory channel.

When can one undergo the surgery?
|

![]() |
The minimum age for the surgery is limited with the end of growth of
a body (end of pubescence). It is not suitable to interfere with the growing
tissues because of the potential deformation. The upper age limit is not
set firmly; the optimum is age of 35. The surgery can be done even after
this age, but a strict evaluation of an individual is necessary. This
is due to the facts that skin elasticity and contractility, mainly important
for the reduction surgeries, decreases with the increasing age. Another
important aspect for considering the surgery is the age from the psychological
point of view. People around the patient at his thirties are used to his
appearance and too radical change can create problems. Another thing that
cannot be relied upon is that even high-quality surgery can save breaking
relationship (here the causes are of a different kind).

The surgery itself
|
|||
|
The surgery is strictly individual based on both the face type and the
personality of a patient. The nose surgery is one of the most difficult
in the area of aesthetic surgery and requires big experience of the surgeon
and good aesthetic sense. The nose surgery is done with local anaesthesia,
because the overall anaesthesia is rather complication than simplification.
The patient can feel the pain only in the first minutes of the surgery
during the application of the anaesthetic lotion; afterward he feels only
strokes, presses, dabbing when working on area with bones. These can be
felt as unpleasant, but not painful. The after-surgical period is also
experienced well by the patients. It is necessary to know that the bruises
on the upper and lower eyelids and intumescences are common after the
nose surgery. After the surgery the gypsum lath is put on the nose and
the nose is tampon from inside with the greasy mull (gauze). The time
needed for the surgery depends on the difficulty of the surgery. The professional
surgeon is able to handle it in approximately 1 hour.

Post-surgical period
|
|||
|
The patient is laid in the bed, is under control, gets analgesics and
ice poultices and after the overall stabilization is released accompanied
and with the instructions for the first period for the home treatment.
The patient must breathe with his mouth because the nose is tampon and
puts up cold poultices with compression onto the eyelids. It is necessary
to drink more liquids, because breathing with one's mouth leads to bigger
losses of liquids from human body. On the fourth or fifth day after the
surgery the tampons are removed and the patient cleans his nose every
2 hours with cotton bristles. He may not blow his nose!! He cannot also
put off the gypsum lath nor move the plaster fixing the lath; the result
of the surgery could be very seriously jeopardized. The control underneath
the gypsum lath is made one week after the surgery and 2 weeks after the
surgery the gypsum lath is taken off and the patient can freely walk and
fixes the lath for the nights for at least next 2 weeks. This is followed
with the instructions about the massages and the check-up 1-month after.

The nose has to gradually adapt to warmth and coldness.
We do not recommend sunbathing in the summer. In the winter the nose has
to be protected from the frost, because there is a bigger danger of frostbites.
During the year this gets stabilized.

Surgery risks
|
||
| The specific risks of this type of surgery are scars. The
surgery is done from inside the nose holes, so the scar is not noticeable
on the skin. Therefore the scars get created in the process of healing underneath
the skin of the nose. The thicker scars layer can in the process of post
surgical healing negatively influence originally nice shape of a nose achieved
with the surgery. Thick oily skin with big pores (or plenty of vassals)
is less suitable (and sometimes unsuitable) for the surgery, because it
tends to heal with a thicker scar, which in turn increases the risk of unacceptable
post-surgical result. |
